Sometimes, we forget our debit card at home or purchase items whose total price is more than the money we carry. UPI or wallet applications are the best modes of payment in this scenario but there are shops or retailers who don’t use UPI even though the Unified Payments Interface is the most popular form of payment in India right now. If you’re an SBI customer and you’re in this situation right now, go through the following paragraphs where I have covered the steps you can follow to withdraw money from an ATM without a debit card.
Cash withdrawal from SBI ATM machines is possible with the YONO aka You Only Need One mobile application. To use the application, install it from the Play Store or iTunes.
After installing YONO, run it and complete the setup process by setting an MPIN. To do so, the app will first check if the phone number you’re using is linked with your State Bank of India account or not. If it is linked, you will be able to set up the MPIN or sign in to your SBI account and use YONO. If it is not, you won’t be able to use the app.
When you set up the MPIN and sign in, tap on the YONO Cash option.
Now, you will see a list of transaction types on the screen. Choose the ATM option from the list and enter the amount you want to withdraw in the empty textbox you find below the textbox that shows the current balance in your account.
Now, you will be prompted to enter a six-digit pin code. Enter the same and follow the instruction displayed on the screen. As soon as the YONO cash request is active, you will receive a transaction OTP.
Now, visit the nearest SBI ATM that supports the YONO service. Select the YONO cash option and enter the OTP you received on the phone and the amount you want to withdraw.
Note: The minimum amount you must enter is 500 Rs. You cannot create a cash withdrawal request for an amount lower than 500 INR
The OTP will be valid for 24 hours from the time it was sent to your mobile phone. It will expire immediately after you withdraw the cash.
Is SBI YONO safe?
Yes! YONO is a very safe mobile app. Here are the three reasons for the same:
Play Store Protect: This feature of Google Play Store ensures that APKs the users install from the Android market place are free from malware or any other malicious code. It also scans your Android device for application-related security issues.
Transaction password: You can transfer funds from the SBI account to the bank account of other users only after entering an OTP. Furthermore, if someone transfers the funds to his/her account, you can request SBI to have a look at the transaction.
Automatic sign-out: Some mobile apps such as Facebook will keep you signed in to your account even after you switch to another mobile application. Yono is not like FB. Once you close it, you will have to re-enter the MPIN or your correct login credentials to access the dashboard.
