ShareChat is a very popular mobile application in India. It has a rating of 4.1, 100+ million users, and is available for download on iTunes as well as the Google Play Store. Despite being a simple social news service, it has managed to raise around 1.7 billion dollars to date. According to Business Standard, the firm is now valued at 5 billion USD. The company is doing everything possible to keep people interested in their platform. However, there are some users who may not like certain features of the service, might be annoyed with the ads, or may have started to find the application boring. For such users, I have shared the top 5 ShareChat alternative apps in the following paragraphs:
Dailyhunt
Sometimes you may find news in the ShareChat feed. If you ignore everything in the feed except the news, you should use a news aggregator app. Dailyhunt is one of the top applications in this category i.e. It shows articles published on multiple websites on one interface. Dailyhunt can be customized to show only stories from particular cities or of a particular type. This is the reason why I love it. You should follow only those categories that you find interesting. For example, there’s a group called “entertainment” in DH. To see entertainment related stories, follow this group. In addition to category, there’s a location filter in Dailyhunt.
Dailyhunt supports notifications. If you want to be notified of the latest stories, you should enable notifications. The application has a search utility and displays trending hashtags.
Twitter might be a microblogging site but it now supports up to 10000 characters and has more interesting content than ever. The type of content you see in the feed depends on the profiles you follow. Twitter may also recommend stories shared by profiles you don’t follow on the basis of posts you’ve liked earlier.
Like Sharechat, you can explore articles by category and also subscribe to a category. You can comment on posts and share the same with people on other platforms. Twitter doesn’t have a list of videos nor does it have an option dedicated to open the video page. It lets you create and manage unlimited lists. Facebook, the most popular social networking service, has two sections dedicated to videos – Reels and Watch. These sections give you access to thousands of shareable videos. FB doesn’t let users download clips directly. There are plenty of applications that allow you to do so. How is the performance of FB? Facebook loads and plays the clip quickly. What type of content will you find in a Reel or the Watch section? The clips can be entertaining, shocking, and can be of adult type. You can like them and even comment on them.
Facebook’s other cool and widely used feature is “groups”. You will find countless groups on FB. Finding a community on this social media site is very easy. FB groups can be open or closed. If the community is closed, your request to join it will be pending until a moderator approves it. If it is open, you can join it within a few seconds.
YouTube
When Tiktok became hugely popular, many social networking companies incorporated the core feature of TikTok i.e. short videos with custom background/filmy music in their app. For example, YouTube was updated with a new feature called shorts. FB also started streaming few seconds short clips. The shorts section of YouTube resembles the interface of TikTok. When you open it, YouTube will autoplay a video. When you scroll up, the application will load the previous clip and when you scroll down, YT will open the next clip. In other words, YT keeps you hooked up. Like Sharechat, YouTube lets users like videos and also lets you comment on them.
