Top websites to check credit score for free

credit score

Want to see the latest CIBIL, Equifax, and Experian data but don’t know how to do so? Here, I’ve shared the websites on which you can see your latest CIBIL data for free. Why must you keep an eye on your credit score?

Has someone misused your PAN card? Instant loan applications can disburse money to your bank account within a few hours. Before the smartphone revolution, you had to visit a bank or NBFC branch to apply for a loan. Now, you can apply for the same online. To know whether you’re eligible for the loan or not, you must enter your PAN number and some personal information. If someone gets access to your PAN card or has your Permanent Account Number, they can apply for the loan without your consent. The CIBIL website has records of credit/loan accounts held by the user.

Finding errors: If you have taken a loan, the NBFC, bank, or lender may have erroneously marked one of your payments as late. You can easily find this out by checking the credit score and report.

Inquiries: NBFCs or banks may check your credit data when you make an inquiry with them. You can find out how much your CIBIL score has been affected after an inquiry.

Websites and applications with which you can see your credit score for free

CIBIL website

The best place to see the credit score is the official website of the bureau. You must enroll yourself by entering the following details:

  • ID type, ID number, and date of birth.
  • Pincode, phone number, first/last name.

Once you’re registered on the website, sign in to your account to see the following data:

Account information: Here, you will find all loan accounts linked with our PAN card and phone number.

Inquiry information: Want to know which NBFC or bank has fetched your data from the bureau website? Click this option.

Other sections you’ll find in the dashboard are contact & employment information.

CIBIL website is useful. However, the score is not refreshed every day or month. You will have to purchase one of the following subscription plans to see the latest updates:

Plan nameValidityPrice
Basic1 month550
Standard6 months800
Premium1 Year1200

If you don’t want to buy a subscription, you must locate the “Annual CIBIL report” option on the website. If you do so and click on it, the website will update the older score with the new one.

PaisaBazaar

PaisaBazaar is one of the top Indian fintech companies. It is another service that lets users check their current credit score for free. How to use PaisaBazaar? Open the CIBIL report page on the website and fill out the form. In the form, you must enter some details including the Permanent Account Number, phone number, and email address. When you enter the requested details, the website will pull the latest CIBIL record and display the same. If you want PaisaBazaar to keep you updated with your credit score, you can opt-in for WhatsApp messages.

Freecharge

Freecharge, owned by Axis Bank, is a powerful multi-purpose application that lets users pay bills, transfer money, etc. It also enables you to see the latest CIBIL data. If you want to borrow money and your credit score is excellent i.e. above 750, you will find an option to apply for various types of loans in the application. The app not only shows the three-digit score but also shows the following details:

  • Credit utilization, payment history.
  • Age of accounts, number of inquiries.

Freecharge is a great app. However, the option to refresh the data will be locked for 28 to 30 days.

CreditMantri and Paytm

CreditMantri shows Equifax credit score instead of CIBIL. Nevertheless, it is a good alternative to the above sites. Paytm, the Freecharge alternative mobile application, lets users see their Experian score for free. It fetches the records from Experian and displays the same within a few seconds.

What is the difference between Experian and CIBIL? The former is a multinational firm whereas the latter is a domestic company owned by TransUnion.

My experience with the above services? I have registered an account with each of the websites mentioned above. Excluding Freecharge, the services send loan/credit card offers on WhatsApp. They also send emails. Furthermore, the employees of the companies may call you at random times to share the offers you’re eligible for.

Is it possible to see the credit data without registering an account on the website? No, as this information is highly confidential.
