Truecaller premium is a subscription plan for users who are disturbed by the frequent spam/telemarketing calls they have to handle. It not only removes ads from the application but also unlocks these features – profile views, premium badge, contact lookups, live caller ID, etc. The paid subscription of Truecaller offers many features but is it worth purchasing? The answer lies within the features of the application. I have discussed the same in the following paragraphs.
Truecaller premium edition ships with the following features:
Reject calls from users not in your contact list: This is a feature offered by the premium edition of the reverse phone number look up app. If you activate it, every call you get from unknown people will be rejected. You can see the list of numbers rejected by the application in the phone log section.
Names of person: One job Truecaller premium edition does really well is that it shows the names of unidentified callers. Thus, if you know the person, you can answer his/her phone number. If the person is unknown, you can reject his/her call without giving it a second thought. The ability of the app to display the names of people is its best feature. No matter how many people have called you, TC will automatically display their names in the phone log/history section.
Spam: Truecaller identifies and labels spam in real time but it leaves it to you to reject or answer the same. The application won’t reject calls from numbers that are not in its Top Spammers list even though it has been labelled as spam. The phone will keep ringing and the display will remain on until the caller hangs up or disconnects. This is the biggest limitation of Truecaller premium.
Profile lookups: This feature of TC helps users identify eavesdroppers. The count of people who searched for my contact number on Truecaller was 0. Thus, I didn’t find this feature useful
Who searched for me: TC has a vast database of phone numbers and addresses of people all over the world. If you want to see the contact information of a person, you must use Truecaller. If you’re unable to find the person with TC, his/her information is not present in the application’s database. In such case, you will have to dial the number and ask the person who he/she is.
Free users can lookup up numbers for a limited time only. This restriction is removed for the premium users. Also, paid users can enable the incognito mode. If you turn on this mode and see the profile of another user, your name won’t appear in the profile views section of the other user.
Spam list update: The database of TC grows every day. When people report someone’s number as spam, the application will update its global database. To make sure you benefit from this, Truecaller lets you update the spammer’s list manually. TC can also update the list automatically.
Badge: You can easily identify the free and paid users of the application by looking at their profile icon. Premium users are assigned a special badge.
Don’t like Trucaller? Google Phone does exactly the same thing Truecaller does but its database of user names is not as vast as that of its counterpart. You will still have to use TC if you would like to know the name of the unidentified person.
Like TC premium, Google Phone can automatically reject all calls from people not in your contact list. The Google application will automatically reject a telemarketing/spam phone call.
