Best apps like Blinkit

Before Google Play Store and iTunes were in existence, we used to visit malls and local stores to buy stuff. The Android and iOS operating systems have made many of the time-wasting tasks easier. For example, we can buy groceries from the comfort of our homes. All you have to do is place an order. Once you do so, the delivery executive of the company will bring the items to your home or workplace.

Why use grocery delivery services? Some users may not want to go to the local store because of the fixed MRP and no discounts. Apps such as Blinkit are built for such users. Blinkit is a great service but has some limitations. Its service is available in select pin codes of a few cities only. To get groceries delivered at home, you can use one of the following applications:

BigBasket

BigBasket

BigBasket is now a part of one of the largest businesses houses in India i.e. Tata Group. It was an independent internet company until Tata Group acquired it 2021. BigBasket is one of the fastest grocery delivery services. You can consider it as an online mall that sells varieties of items at discounted rates.

BigBasket has launched a dedicated app called bbDaily for users who want to get grocery items delivered to their home every day, alternate days or weekly. Every item you’ll find on this application can be subscribed to by the user. For example, if you want the company to deliver the Amul Gold milk packet daily, you can subscribe to Amul Gold. The firm charges a delivery fee of Rs 4 to 5 if your order comprises of dairy items only. If your order contains a nondairy item, you will be eligible for free delivery. bbDaily users will have to top-up their account by recharging your account with an amount. The firm will automatically deduct money from the top-up every day after the subscribed item is delivered.

JioMart

JioMart

JioMart is a subsidiary of one of the top 5 offline Indian retailers i.e. Reliance Retail. Although it doesn’t let you create and forget orders, it is a good option because of two reasons – it offers good discounts and goods are delivered on time. JioMart partners with banks to offer cashback or discounts on orders. I have been a user of JioMart ever since its launch. The only problem I had with it is if the item you add to the cart may be out of stock but still JioMart allows users to add the item to the cart.

Dunzo

Dunzo

JioMart and BigBasket are owned by big companies. Dunzo is a service that allows you to order items from a nearby store or a store you know. The problem with the local shops is that the owner may not be able to deliver goods to your home. Dunzo solves this problem. The item you order will be handled by the company’s delivery executive i.e. he/she will get the ordered products delivered. The above two services may offer discounts. You may not find cashback or discount offer on Dunzo.

Zepto

Zepto

This service is similar to Dunzo. You can call it a rip off of the above application. Like its counterpart, Zepto offers grocery delivery service only in certain areas of cities. To make sure only the users of these areas are able to place orders, you will be prompted to choose/enter your location as soon as you open the web or mobile app on your device. Zepto sells items at discounted prices like Dmart and Jiomart. This is the reason why you may want to use it instead of Dunzo. The discounts are displayed on the homepage itself. When you add an item to the cart of an eCommerce website, you can see the overall value of the cart only after clicking on it. Zepto shows the total price of the items in the cart in real-time.

The application displays some details of items you want to buy on the product page. It also shows related items on this page. You can thus continue shopping without opening other pages.
