How to get rid of Mobile Services Manager from the phone?

Smartphone manufacturers install third-party apps in the smartphones before packing their devices in the retail box. They may also install a package such as Mobile Services Manager that will automatically install new apps on the phone. Mobile Services Manager does not nothing. The only thing it does is check if the user has removed preloaded app and re-install the missing one. For example, if you have purchased an Android device named “X” that came pre-installed with Candy Crush Saga and you removed the game for some reason, Mobile Services Manager will re-install the game the next time you reboot the phone. MSM is an annoying application. You cannot remove it unless you root your phone or do something special. Here are the two reasons why your mobile device shouldn’t have junk packages:

Storage memory: The phone’s storage memory will be utilized by applications you don’t need or won’t use. Although phones launched these days have plenty of storage, there would still be junk on your Android device.

Notifications: Notifications that are not important are always annoying. Certain apps will trigger them even though you might not be using them. Imagine you’re expecting an important message from someone, and a game has pushed a notification.

How to remove pre-installed applications? There are two ways to remove pre-installed games, tools, etc on a phone. Long press on a game and drag/drop it on the uninstall option that the phone displays. This method is time wasting as you will have to remove apps one by one.

A free application named “Uninstaller” overcomes this limitation by allowing you to bulk remove APKs. Uninstaller boasts package files in list on its main interface. You can sort the list by the ascending/descending order of the item name, size and by the date on which they were added to your device. Uninstaller provides a search option in case the list is humongous and has plenty of items. For easy identification of packages, it displays the icons of the apps.

To the left side of each APK, there’s a checkbox. You must select every package that you don’t want your phone and tap on the “delete” icon.

Mobile Services Manager

The above two solutions will not fix the issue of junk apps permanently. To fix this issue, you must get rid of Mobile Services Manager from the phone. As mentioned earlier, this is not possible unless you root your Android device. Well, Android provides an option to disable apps. When you use this option, installed packages won’t start when you reboot the phone. To disable Mobile Services Manager, open the phone settings and choose the “Apps and Notifications” option. Now, click the “Sell All” link and select Mobile Services Manager from the list. Finally, tap the “disable” option. Once you disable MSM, reboot your phone and reopen the settings interface of Mobile Services Manager. You will find the option “Uninstall”. Tap this option.
